Our health coaches have earned a bachelor's degree in Community Health Education or its equivalent. Under physician supervision they provide ongoing, one-on-one on-site encounters to employees and spouses. Using Motivational Interviewing techniques, they coach participants toward improved health behaviors and health care purchasing strategies.
Change Behavior.
Behavior change occurs in dynamic stages. The first step toward change begins when an individual perceives a need. After thinking about and then preparing for change, the actual change process begins. Once change happens, maintenance is required or the steps can and do reverse themselves. Our Health Coaches are trained to assist participants in moving forward through the change process and to help sustain positive change in their clients' health behavior.
Educate.
Health Coaches assist employees in clarifying the significance of their individual health risks. Education can set the stage for the development of the motivation required for change to occur.
Support.
Our Health Coaches support their clients in reaching their optimal healthy lifestyle. Help for participants is as close as their job site, computer, phone, or mailbox. Health Coaches will maintain regular on-site visits with all participants. In addition, when participants want help with barriers they encounter along the way, desire more information on their health risks, or need that little extra help with making a change, a Health Coach is there to assist them.
Motivate.
Through personal encounters health coaches help their clients to identify intrinsic motivation for change. We help people to see the importance of change and to build the confidence to make and sustain reasonable, meaningful changes over time. Urging small yet meaningful changes, health coaches enhance the likelihood of client success. We help each participant develop an overall change strategy, set reasonable goals one at a time, define and practice specific alternate health behaviors, and get ready for change!
